Dr. L Susan Wieland is a research methodologist with an MPH and a PhD in Epidemiology. She has been a member of Cochrane since 2001 and is currently Director of the Cochrane Complementary Medicine Field, where she leads the Field in producing, interpreting and disseminating systematic evidence on traditional, complementary, alternative and integrative interventions. Dr. Wieland has led several Cochrane and non-Cochrane evidence synthesis projects, focusing on nonpharmacological interventions such as acupuncture, dietary supplements, herbal medicine, and yoga, and combines this work with an interest in the methods underlying evidence synthesis. Dr. Wieland is also a member of the Cochrane Climate Health Working Group, the GRADE Working Group, and the Academic Consortium for Integrative Medicine & Health guidelines oversight committee, and most recently served as Co-Chair of the External Advisory Group for the WHO Traditional Medicine Global Summit in 2023.
